Bob Lentz founded Lentz & Company, Inc. in 1998 to prepare independent valuations of companies being appraised primarily for ESOP purposes.

He has four decades of managerial and consulting experience in valuation, investment banking, commercial and real estate lending, risk management and financial analysis in a wide range of industries.

Prior to forming the Company, he began his banking career in the Wall Street Division of Marine Midland Bank in New York.  Following six years of training with one of the legends in New York banking, he was asked to co-found the Bank of America’s Wall Street Lending Group, which financed the New York broker-dealer community for BofA’s “new” World Banking Division.  He subsequently became manager of BofA’s Multinational Lending Group in Hong Kong, appraising the risk for loans to major U.S., European and Far Eastern corporate clients.

Three years later, he moved from Hong Kong to Chicago as a unit manager, then to San Francisco as agent banker for some of BofA’s largest commercial clients.  He subsequently joined two investment banking firms in San Francisco, earned four different securities licenses (Series 7, 24, 28 and 63), and worked for a decade up to 1998 managing the technical analysis of public and private companies for venture capital, private placements and mergers / acquisitions.

Bob earned his bachelor of science degree in economics from Lehigh University, an MBA in finance and insurance from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania, and a Chartered Life Underwriter ("CLU”) designation from The American College.  His education was briefly interrupted during the Vietnam Era to serve as a U.S. Army officer in Virginia and Korea, where he was decorated twice for merit.

Bob was the 2008-2010 President of The Valuation Roundtable of San Francisco, Inc., and continued as a Board Member through 2012.

He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser ("ASA") member of The American Society of Appraisers.  He was the ASA's Northern California Chapter Treasurer for 2005-2009, Chapter Vice President 2009-2010, then served as the Chapter’s 2010-2012 President.  He continues to serve on the Northern California Chapter's Board of Directors.
